Fire Departments Recruiting Youths
Each of the fire departments has a Junior Firefighter program that introduces interested youth in the Township to the world of fire fighting. Each department recruits young people, aged 16 to 18, to become familiar with what it takes to be a firefighter. The recruits are exposed to everything from the equipment used in
fighting a fire to the training required to do the job.
Any young person interested in joining a particular fire company under the Junior Firefighter program can call any of the departments at the following numbers:

Emergency Warning System
The Four Volunteer Fire Departments in conjunction with the South Fayette Township Emergency Management Council has improved the emergency warning system for the Township. Each of the Four Fire Departments has initiated a Siren Warning Program to warn residents of any pending natural/civil disaster. The system works in the following manner. Following notification of a potential emergency situation, each department will sound their respective sirens. For natural/civil disasters, sirens will be sounded for a period of five continuous minutes. Residents are instructed to tune to their local emergency broadcast system and/or local news for further instructions. Residents are reminded that the sirens will still be used for fire notification. Fire notification can be distinguished from a natural/civil emergency by the tone and length of the siren blast. Fire notification is five short blast lasting less than ten seconds. Again, the natural/civil emergency siren is one continuous blast for five minutes.
